The editors of the Fairfield Neighborhood Association newsletter would like to extend our sincere appreciation for Mr. David Kissinger’s willingness to be the first interview for the inaugural edition.

FNA: Hi Dave, thank you for sitting down for this first installment of Small Business Spotlight. Can you give us the basic rundown of your business, such as the name, when it was founded, and what services you offer?

Dave: The name of my company is K’s Construction, which was formed in 1987 and we serve homeowners looking to remodel kitchens, bathrooms, as well as flooring, windows, and doors.

FNA: Why did you decide to become a business owner?

Dave: Mostly to put food on the table and become my own boss.

FNA: How many employees does your company have?

Dave: Three.

FNA: What is most crucial to your business?

Dave: Making sure the customer is happy is the main goal!

FNA: Where do you see yourself in five-years?

Dave: In Florida, semi-retired.

FNA: How did you get started in the trades?

Dave: Doing work for family and friends, installing siding in previous jobs

FNA: How do you generate customer referrals?

Dave: Mostly my website: https://kissingerhomerepair.com/ Also, posting before and after photos to Facebook and the member’s page on Angie’s List for the past five-years

FNA: How did you come up with the name for your company?

Dave: My last name is Kissinger (K’s Construction)

FNA: How would you describe your company’s success thus far?

Dave: Very successful! Started out week to week, job to job, and accumulated cash to buy tools, and scrounged together what was needed to get the job done.

FNA: What do you dislike most about being in business?

Dave: Long hours.

FNA: What do you like most about being in business?

Dave: Making customers happy, what I like most is seeing before and after pictures- shower jobs that are detailed and immaculate.

FNA: What was your greatest success?

Dave: The money- last year was my best year yet, every year has seen growth.

FNA: If you could go back, what would you tell yourself about going into business or what would you do differently?

Dave: I would have tried to advertise better, on radio and television.

FNA: Advice for small business owners getting started?

Dave: Make the customers happy, that’s number one; do not skimp on the quality of work, and advertise any way you can.
